Minecraft Legends devs discuss “creating a new game”
The team behind the newly-announced Minecraft Legends has dropped a new dev diary sharing a little more detail about the game.
Minecraft Legends was announced at the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase, with a 2023 release window. Now, the devs have shared a little more info about the game.
Minecraft Legends’ first dev diary is here
We hear from chief creative officer Jens Bergensten, creative director Magnus Nedfors, narrative director Kevin Grace, lead narrative designer Rees Savidis, and still more devs in this latest video. “Minecraft Legends is an action strategy game in which you unite the overworld mobs and command them, and with the help of allies, defeat a pigling invasion,” Bergensten says. “You will recognise the environments and creatures, but Minecraft Legends also introduces a lot of new things…”
When asked if players will need to have played Minecraft, Nedfors answers, “I think this is a game for everybody. It covers such a broad range of gameplay, I would say you don’t need any experience of Minecraft… if you know a lot of Minecraft… you will feel at home, but it’s different as well.”
Over on the Minecraft Legends site, we’re told that we’ll “explore a familiar yet mysterious land, full of diverse life, lush biomes, and rich resources. But this paradise is on the brink of destruction. The piglins have arrived — and they’re threatening to corrupt the Overworld.”
